Rules
All of the following rules & regulations are those which must be observed during your registration with the HLQHA. Most of these rules come from the AQHA Rules
& Regulations Section of the 2008 Handbook.

1. Versatility Horses MAY ONLY show in Halter Classes (Age & Color) nothing else.

2. Horses do not start under saddle till Junior Level (3 years)

3. No person shall treat any horse in a cruel or inhumane manner, including, but not limited to, the prohibited conduct specified in the Shows Rules and Regulations section of this Handbook. Cruelty to horses other than American Quarter Horses is included in this prohibition, as it indicates a general course of dealing with horses, which is unacceptable for HLQHA membership qualification. For violation of this rule, an HLQHA member may be disciplined, suspended, fined, and/or expelled from HLQHA, and a non-member may be denied HLQHA privileges. This prohibition against cruelty includes, but is not limited to, HLQHA members and/or owners of Quarter Horses, their agents, representatives, and employees, the actions for which a member or owner are also responsible.

4. In the furtherance of their official duties, all HLQHA representatives shall be treated with courtesy, cooperation and respect, and no person shall direct abusive or threatening conduct toward them.

5. No person shall advertise, or enter in any HLQHA event or competition, with any registered horse by a name other than that by which it is registered.

6. Rules pertaining to prohibition of drugs or surgical alteration provide for absolute responsibility for a horse’s condition by an exhibitor, trainer or responsible person as affirmed by HLQHA rules, whether or not he was actually instrumental in, or had actual knowledge of, the administration of such drug or surgery, thereby making such person eligible for possible disciplinary action upon proof of the presence of such drug by laboratory analysis or existence of surgical alteration.

7. In the case of a sale by a registered HLQHA member, transfer of ownership information regaurding the purchaser must be submitted to the HLQHA with 72 hours of completion of the sale.

8. All HLQHA members must meet the class, horse, & rider descriptions listed.
